Pen Turning tools
and supplies |
|
Pen turning tools and supplies can be purchased from a lot of
different places. A quick Google search will get you hundreds of choices. I suggest asking people you know who they do business with and how thier customer service is. |
|
The mandrel and pen kits I have were purchased at Woodcraft.
They had a special deal for people who participated in thier program of turning pens for our service men and women overseas. I use the Slimline style and size of kits and that is the size of bushings that came with my mandrel. |
|
Mandrels come in various sizes. make sure you know the size
of the Morse taper on your lathe. Pen and pencil kits come in a variety of sizes and styles and you can buy bushings for the different sizes seperatly so that you only need one mandrel. |

This is a pen blank drilling jig
that woodcraft carries. It will hold the blanks straight when drilling on your drill press. As you noticed on the tutorial, I am too cheap to buy these fancy tools. LOL |
|
This is a Pen press. Used for installing the
tubes into the blanks and for assembling the pens. Just too easy for me. LOL |
|
Precut pen blanks can be purchased in a wide variety of woods and
plastics. From the most common walnuts and maples to exotic burls. And plastic colors and swirls that look great. Again, I am too cheap for this stuff, I cut my own blanks from the wood on hand. LOL |
|
Well this about does it for my knowledge
of pen turning. Hope I was able to help, even if only a little. |
